Observations (animals):
-lots of little fish in tide pool area
-several birds (kolea) walking around tide pools looking for food
-dead fish carcass floating in tide pool. Fish is white colored, meaning it's been there for a while
-crabs, little fish, bigger fish eating the decaying fish
-lots of birds (pigeons) inhabiting the grassy area, foraging for food
-some fish jumping a little further out, possible predation
-crabs live mostly inside cracks of walls, in holes, places that are hidden
-Kolea
--skinny legs
--browish beige color
--migrate to alaska every year
--skinny beaks
--white stripe along body
-crabs
--most of them are black
--shell is about the size of half dollar, so they aren't that big
--very quick
Questions
-How did they dead fish get into there?
-Are the bigger fish preying on smaller fish, or are they parents?
-What do the Kolea eat? Are they fast enough to catch fish?
-What kind of fish/animal eat the crabs?
-Do the birds ever get eaten?

I believe there is a relationship between the bigger fish and the baby fish. I think this relationship is commensalism. I think this is commensalism because when the tide rises, it allows for even bigger predators to come in and eat the baby fishes, but the slightly larger more matured fish provide somewhat of a defense for the smaller fishes.
I also believe there is a relationship between the fish and the birds. The birds walk around the edges of the water looking for fish to eat. This relationship would be predation. The bird preys on the fishes inside the unescapable tide pool.
